About Amber Keinath

Amber is a Registered Nurse and Health Coach who is very passionate about educating and inspiring women to be healthy for life. She started  her nursing career working in the medical, women’s health, and pediatric specialties in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Amber continued her education by completing her Master’s Degree in Nursing  & Wellness Promotion and becoming certified as a  Health Coach. In addition to her health coaching services and this blog, Amber currently teaches and prepares students at the college level to become Registered Nurses.

From Hospital Nurse to Health Coach
During Amber’s nursing career, she began to question her ability to help people in the hospital. She witnessed many people get discharged from the hospital with more medications than when they were admitted, only to wind up back in the hospital a few days later. People were not getting healthier despite all the care provided. She felt there was a better way to help her patients.

It was during nursing school that she developed a love for nutrition, fitness, and longevity secrets. Since that time, Amber has done 1,000s of hours of research in these fields and discovered how people can actually live healthier lives by changing their health habits. People do not need to suffer with these western diseases that were rare 100 years ago.

In the longevity hot spots (places around the world where people live the longest and stay free of disease), people do not suffer from all these diseases that have become so prevalent in our western culture. In these hot spots, the elderly are also still very active despite their old age.

What are they doing differently? Everything in the research pointed back to getting healthy by eating right, getting more exercise, getting rid of stress, living in clean environments, and living with purpose and passion.

It was during this time that Amber received certification as a health coach and graduated with a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing & Wellness Promotion. This blog was originally started as a way to spread the word about how simple and fun it can be to create a healthy lifestyle.

Then Amber was diagnosed with infertility issues which eventually led to a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS. This is a complex endocrine disorder that doctors do not truly understand. There are many theories as to the underlying issue in PCOS, with a major one being genetic. There is no cure and treatments typically involve medications such as metformin (used also in diabetes) for the rest of a woman’s life. Lifestyle behaviors are typically encouraged because the vast majority of women with this disorder are obese and when they lose weight, their symptoms greatly improve. Because Amber is atypical with always having a BMI on the low side of normal, there really is nothing they recommend except to treat the symptoms with medications (no thank you!).

Determined to beat PCOS, Amber has set out to go even further with her healthy lifestyle, focusing on a high nutrient, plant-based diet with very little processed sugar and no dairy, regular moderate exercise, creating a healthy home, managing stress, having fun and enjoying life.

“I will not let PCOS win. I am not a victim. My name is not PCOS. I am not defined by a diagnosis. I am a woman with PCOS, who is very passionate about supporting and empowering women to get healthy and fit, enjoy life, and be confident that they are beautiful just the way they are!” ~Amber Keinath
